Hello!
The CD-ROM on 50 IBM X41 NetVista systems will not read CDs unless a CD is in the drive when the user logs in. (Drive is visible, it just always prompts you to put a CD in the tray).
If you login with the CD tray empty you cannot access any CDs during the entire session, but if you have one in the tray everything works fine.
Clean installs of XP work, SAFE MODE works - this image was built using RIS (not by me). Problem exists for administrator as well. CD-ROM (not CD/RW or CD-DVD).
Deleting the driver (manually and via device manager) do not help.
Any thoughts or help would be geratly appreciated.
