I spoke with a Cisco Rep this morming and she advised me that if I did not complete the five exams by June 24th that I would be required to take the CCNA Voice exam to certify.

Is this accurate? I have seen several blogs stating differnet answers.... Any thoughts?

Yep, it's accurate according to the certification web page.

I'm trying to bust my butt to get the exams done by then too. But with so much else going on right now, not sure I'm going to make it.

Plus, having some trouble finding good resources for the GWGK and TUC exams.

jeter,

This is what I read at Network World by Author Expert: Kevin Wallace -

Most of my blog entries this month dealt Cisco's professional-level voice certification (i.e. CCVP). However, one of the most requested topics (based on a poll conducted at the beginning of the month) was Cisco's associate-level voice certification, specifically, the CCNA Voice Concentration.

While the CCNA Voice Concentration is not currently a prerequisite for the CCVP certification, it will become a prerequisite beginning June 24, 2009..........

Hope this helps!

I just emailed Cisco Certification Solution. I hope to hear from them soon. I will pass on the information soon.

The blog is correct.. Currently you only need a regular CCNA R&S. That will last until 23June2009! After this date there will be 6 exams necessary if you take the CCNA Voice into account unless something changes (7 if you count CCNA R&S). This differs from the CCNA Security which is actually replacing the SNRS exam with the CCNA Security as much of the material coincide.

You will have two optional paths for CCVP regardless..

You will take these three exams regardless...
642-426 TUC
642-436 CVOICE
642-642 QoS

Then two more that differ depending on whether or not you follow the Unified CallManager or Unified Connection Manager track! My understanding is that Unified Connection Manager is replacing CallManager so I would suggest that route but I could be wrong.. Ask the Voice experts before proceeding!

Unified Connection Manager
642-446 CIPT1
642-456 CIPT2

Unified CallManager
642-444 CIPT 4.1
642-453 GWGK

These may possibly change as the 23June date gets closer.. Can never tell!

The good news is that the CCNA Voice will definitely help prepare you for the rest of the Voice track!!! Consider it foundation!!! Good Luck!

This is from Cisco's (Certification Support Center).

" If you have already achieved the CCNA, then the CCNA Voice will not be a required prerequisite to achieve the CCVP. As of June 24, 2009, if you have not achieved the CCNA, then you would be required to achieve the CCNA Voice".

It seems clear as mud to me but what I get from it is,
If you have a valid CCNA before June 24, 2009 then that's all you need for the CCVP pre-requisite. After June 24, 2009 you will be required to have a valid CCNA Voice certification...

When put that way it definitely sounds as if anyone who is already CCNA R&S certified (By 23JUNE) will NOT have to take the CCNA Voice; however, this is a direct quote from the CCVP site "CCNA until June 23, 2009" which clearly implies that CCNA R&S alone will be accepted until June 23rd then CCNA Voice will be a prerequisite! That page seem pretty clear to me... You definitely bring up a good question. I will post this in the CLN site where the moderators may answer!

Just for your reference I posted this in the CCVP forum over at the CLN website as well. That way Cisco employees can shoot their people an email or make a call and respond! Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us!

By the way.. I would still recommend the CCNA Voice regardless as it really will help you in the long run unless you have been in the Voice field for a while already!

Thanks, I have been installing Cisco Voice equipment for five years now. I just have not had the time to get the certification but I have passed three exams already
(C-voice, GW/GK, and CIPT).

I understand.. You do not want to have to go back to an associate level exam when you only have two to go! In that situation I would agree! It would make more sense if Cisco were to say ANYONE WHO HAS PASSED A CCVP EXAM BY 24JUNE WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE CCNA VOICE!

So far, I think the QoS exam has been the easiest one I've taken so far. But, I had lots of practice in the field with QoS leading up to it which helped a ton. I wouldn't be too afraid of getting it knocked out.

TUC and GWGK are ones I've only been casually starting to look for resources for, but not seeing a lot out there. Got any recommendations for GWGK?

Not sure about the GWGK but I did get an answer from one of the CLN (Cisco Learning Network) site moderators. This guy always seems to know his stuff so I would trust this response.

"To clarify the CCVP requirements - the CCNA Voice prerequisite effective live date is on June 23, 2009. If you have earned your CCVP Certification on or before June 23, you will NOT need to complete the CCNA Voice certification. If however you are in the process of still completing your CCVP Certification after June 23, you will need to complete the CCNA Voice as the CCVP prerequisite."

Hope this helps!!!
