We have a lot of soft-phones and I would like to know if there is a way of finding out when they last logged on as we have a lot of users who requested a soft-phone and don't really use it and we are running out of licences.
Nothing I can think of. SMDR reports come to mind for any after-hours (working from home), but assumes you have an SMDR package.
If you purchased CUWL license bundles, you ought to have enough DLUs, assuming you followed the rules and went 1 for 1, hardphone vs softphone. However, if you purchased CUWL license bundles but then leveraged the bucket of extra DLUs to deploy more hardphones than you bought licenses for, as some do, then it's time to true-up and pay the piper. Either way I see a check being written, which is quite possible of happening sometime in the near future anyway, as I keep hearing rumblings of a revised licensing structure coming in CUCM 9.x that will force customers to true-up.
From the ACUCW2 (8.0) training course workbook vol. 2: "CUWL leverages existing license enforcement mechanisms. In future, (sic) products will become "CUWL aware." Additional enforcement will happen. If you fail to comply with the rules, you will be impacted."
I was not able to find a way through CM either, however I was able to get a report from our desktop engineers showing the last time that the Cisco IP Communicator App was launched from each machine that it was installed. I'm not sure how they did it and it took a while but I ended up eventually being able to delete about 20% of them. Probably not what you're looking for but thought I'd throw that out there.
