CCR Database upgrade

Guys we dont have a lot of CCR installs out there and the ones we do havent run into this yet. we have a customer that was installed with the SQL express free version. they now need to upgrade to full blown SQL on this server. can we simply upgrade the SQL? is there anything we will need to do to CCR to make it work?
