I just purchased CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lammie. It's well written but I think it's kind of technical. If I didn't already have some network training it would be way over my head. And even now, I find myself hitting the Telecom Dictionary to clarify some things. But I'm happy with it for the most part. I'll let everyone know how I did on the exam in a few months.
I like the sybex books by Todd lammle (I have used the CCNA, CCNP advansed routing, and CCNP remote access by Todd). They are lest technial then the Cisco press books and are a great place to start. The cisco books I also like if you are looking for detailed (and sometimes confusing) information. The Exam Cram books do not follow the exams as well as sybex or cisco press books, for advansted routing at lest. If you are looking for practise tests try Tranceneders. These test are as hard as the exams, and they ask for higher scores the the exams.
