I have one CISCO 1601 and one 1601R routers. Will Catalyst 1900 switches be good enough for my CCNA practice. Also I have a laptop with a female DB9, the rollover cable I have also has a Lan to DB9 female connector. How can I connect my laptop to the routers.
Please help.

The 1600 routers should be ok for CCNA practice despite the exam being based on more current routing platforms simply because the 1600 supports the same IOS commands.

The 1900 switch could be an issue because that uses a different command set to the switch Cisco tests on (2950). That 1900 will not really assist you a great deal I think for the exam.

They don't use 1900's for the test anymore and it is a somewhat different command set , you need to get at least an older 2924 with 8 meg of ram running 12.0 or something newer like a 2950.
