I have to buy in some routers to be used for CCNA training. I was considering using the 1601 and fitting an ISDN WAN card. Is this suitable or have I missed something? If anyone can think of a more suitable solution (IE cheaper\easier. Cheaper MDs requirement and easier the trainers!) I would be greatful for the info. Many thanks

For a few pennies more, you can get a 2514 which has the serial port and 2 etherports. If you are teaching routing, the etherport ports make it easy for the newbie to get the concepts of routing. In fact, you can do everything except ISDN. You can set up one router as a frame switch or run them back to back. Unless your lab has ISDN circuits or a pricy emulator, I would say ISDN is not money well spent.

If you really like the 1600 series, then there is the 1605 which has the dual either ports and the WIC slot.

Thanks Mike for the advice. I'll look into the 2514.
