I have very little networking experience but I have a desire to learn. My company already has an IT division and they are wanting our branch to begin getting into the IT side. We are primarily a telphony branch. They want me to get CCNA certified. I have checked into the Cisco Networking Academy and have found only 1 location here. The problem is I cannot start until the fall. My company wants me to begin training now. We are purchasing the Cisco Simulator and the CCNA Preparation Library. I also plan to take the web-courses on Cisco's website. I also plan to take individual courses including the Introduction to Cisco Technology. I am trying to set up a plan of attack. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help me?

Thank You!

It sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Get a few used routers and switches and start some labs. This will give you hands on experience. Also a good source of information is right here within Tek-Tips. You can view the questions and verify answers given by others.

jeter is right, get some routers and switches (ebay) and practice some of the commmands. The simulators I've tried were ok at best.

Do you have the CiscoPress Prep library? I've hear a lot of good things about the Todd Lammle books. I used his FastPass book to help supplement some of what is not covered as well in the CiscoPress books.

I've posted an FAQ of a bunch of weblinks that I used while I was preparing.

But I think my best information came from this site. A lot of good folks out here to help.
