I have configured and implemented a 6509 main switch as our main switch. It feeds 9 catalyst 3550 perimeter switches. My question is in regards to the supervisor modules I have installed. I have redundant Catalyst 6000 supervisor 2 modules. They both contain 2 fiber interfaces. They also have gauges on them that would indicate switch load. My question is, what are the fiber connections in the switch for? I have a 16 port fiber module that connects my satellite switches to the main switch, we are also a single vlan environment for now so all ports and cards are accesible via lan. Can anyone shed any light on these connections and or how to get the switch load indicators to work. I appreciate any help that can be offered.
