CCNA Lab Questions - How to be methodical without panicking?

Hi,

I will be retaking the 640-607 exam soon after failing on my first attempt with an 839. Part of the reason that I failed the first time was because I lost a lot of time and did not complete one of the Lab questions, so I wondered if anyone had some advice as to how to go about dealing with these Labs whilst the clock is ticking.

Did you compare the specified configuration with the running configs on the routers and troubleshoot the configuration errors?

Or did you set about completely resetting the configs according to the specs?

One other thing concerns me, when you start the exam the clock starts ticking down from 90Mins but when a Lab question is presented, does the 90Min clock pause while you read the requirements of the Lab and then restart when you login to a router or does it keep running down while you are considering the lab question?

To take your point in reverse, the clock only stops whilst the lab it's self it downloaded to the test machine. You will normally be told whilst this is taking place.

My advice would be this. There is no way that Cisco would expect you to rewrite an entire router config in the time given, so think about the possible causes and read through the configs carefully.

There will normally be something obvious missing or wrong that can be fixed with no more than a few commands.

Remember to use tools like ping and cdp.
