Have agents using CCAD and when a contact (email) arrives with an attachment as either a .docx OR .xlsm file attachments, the users cannot open the attachments. When the attachment comes as a regular .doc OR .xls they open no problem. Is this their pc or something in their CCAD profile or CCMM??

This has to do with a system setting in CCMM. Since the attachmentname extension is not known (yet) the system does not open it. Had the same with .odf (open office) files.
Think it was an .ini file which had to be altered but can't remember which one.

The attachments can be found on the CCMM: there is an 'Inbound' directory (with serveral 'date' folders), where the attachments can be found: as a workaround you can search the Inbound folder and send the agents the attachment via outlook...

Update, use following steps to 'add a known extension type' to the CCMM:

Go to: Computer Management, Services and Applications, Internet Information Services (ISS) Manager, Websites, Default Web Site.

In the 'Default Web Site Properties' go to tab 'HTTP Headers', select 'MIME Types' and add the needed extentions with 'MIME type': 'application/octet-stream'
It should be active at once (no reboot/reset needed)..
