I am trained in SCCS 4.2 and have done a complete installation and configuration in the past. We will be upgrading to CCM 6.0 and I wish to know if installing and upgrading that is any different from SCCS 4.2. I need to know that for someone who can completely install SCCS 4.2, he should be able to install CCM 6.0.

Only addition from 4.2 that I will need to install is emails. There is no outbound at this moment.

Thanks for your help.

if you follow the installation guide it will be easy for the CCMS and CCMA portion. Not sure on the CCMM and CCT.

The only really NEW thing to you wold be license manager, but like spanton said, follow the guides (exactly) and it generally goes well.

There are a couple of server configurations that are different, for example, SMTP needs to be installed, while in 4.2 it could not be. Again, these types of things are noted in the installation guides.

Be Aware of what type of hardware / Network configuration you choose, or you may have big issue.

The CCM 6.0 has different option. You can have co-residence of CCMS, CCMA, License Manager, or you can have CCMS and license Manager in one box, and CCMA on a seperate box. Also, you can choose either the old SCCS network way (2 LAN port, one for ELAN and one for CLAN), or one LAN port. The later means you need to get a layer 3 switch or a router to make it work, that is not required in SCCS 4.2

You need to pay more attention if you choose the co-residence one because the Nortel installation guide is really not very strict forward to follow. First, you need to use the co-residence hardware config to make sure you hardware and Win2003 O/S comply with the co-residence requirement (yes, co-residence requirement is different from CCMS standalone box, and in turn different from CCMA standalone box), and then you need to refer to the co-residence installation menu (that in turn some portion will point you back to the CCMS and/or CCMA stand-alone installation menu) .....

If you have not done the CCM 6.0 before, and if you plan to do it yourself, be prepared to try couple times following the menu. But the first thing is you need to make up your mind what type of configuration you want, and then read thoroughly the requirement for your choose. Well plan before you start.
