CCM on second partition

I am attempting to upgrade CCM 4 to 7. Understanding 7 uses linus, is it possible to load 7 onto the existing CCM 4 box in the second, inactive partition. This way I have a backup of 4, along with a fresh load of 7?

Has this been done?

Personally, I don't see how either OS would even know there is multiple installations.

BUT, I don't think the hardware that supports 4 can support 7.

Once you load 7.X it wipes the windows OS out and does a clean install. Vice versa if you were to install 4.x after 7.x.
If you are worried get a spare drive and keep it with the 4.x. Harddrives are cheap.
