Is it possible to install the 6110 CCM on a client desktop machine (XP) and run it there as a local app, or is a separate server a mandatory component?

Thanks

you could do that as 6110 does run on xp pro. however there are limitations affecting the 6110 directly.

there are also a few other considerations if running it on a system that's used for something else.

I'll elaborate a little more if you want....

I have a customer needing a very small (4 agent + supvr) call center. The site has a 2K-ML with all the necessary options & seat licenses already, including ACD-II. There's also some dnic datasets lying around that could be used to get the ACD data and SMDR into the reporting platform so the entry level PrairieFyre (5 agents) system seems ideal. What they're interested in is a very minimal investment in the reporting system, i.e., trying to avoid the cost of a separate server (or any "server" for that matter) and instead run the entire thing, including administration of their reports, all on one CPU that essentially will do nothing else. XP-Pro. Can it be done? What are the pitfalls?

Thnx

i've used xp pro before all be it for a 3300 acd system. not sure how it differs from a 2k system.

the only obvious pitfalls are that your connections to the xp pro box are limited to 2 connections, in other words only two supervisors or two people running the contact centre management client can connect simulataniously.
In addition because you're running xp pro you can only installed SQL express and SQL express has a database limit of I think 4 gig these days. Also if you run this software on a system running other things you more than likely will have hassles when doing maintenance and reboots if necessary.

Again I've used this config numerous times for smaller sites running 3300 and about 10 or so agents with no problems. Not sure how it will differ with a 2k controller.

hope this helps

Thanks. I also discovered this in the new (5.x) PrairieFyre docs.

However, the client has decided to spend the gelt for a blade server (a physical server). I told them the new PrairieFyre stuff supports MS virtual servers and IP, even on the old SX2K (rls 34.something), but they said they had the money, so..... Far be it from me to belabor the point when the man has his checkbook out and pen in hand.

I recently installed version 5.3 on a VMWare virtual server. still running. Is a call centre with about 200 seats that handles roughly 10 000 calls a day. Works out to about 1250 calls an hour.

Obviously with this kinda data SQL Express is not going to cut it, so running full SQL server 2003.

Anyway good luck!
