I have one customer that uses CCC and has a lot of agents so I installed MS SQL 2000 after I installed CCC/MSDE. The upgrade went well and everything is working well.

I have customer number two that has grown into the need for the full blown version of SQL. This time I was going to be brave and install SQL 2005 despite the fact that Avaya does not support SQL 2005 yet. I have read posts on this forum that people have been successful doing this.

The upgrade process appeared to go smoothly although it was much different than the SQL 2000 upgrade. However, the server is still complaining that the database is over 80% full. There is over 40 gig of hard drive space so that shouldn't be an issue.

Does any body have any tips on using SQL 2005 to upgrade MSDE? How can I get rid of the 80% full error message?

SQL 2005 is supported in the latest version of CCCv5

Did you uplift the database out of the old msde sql? Or did you move it manually to the full verison sql? I know that when the database is created in msde, the database file shows up as 2gigs right from the beginning for the purpose of reserving space for the future. I suspect this is the problem. I dont believe that you can simply move the database to full version sql.. There is the uplift software that is part of the CCC installation that may assist you in doing so. As from my experiece, I have yet to move a msde database to a full version sql so Im not much help, but I think I may have pointed you in the right direction.

PlatinumGuy - That's good news that Avaya now supports SQL 2005. Unfortunately, none of the documentation lists the procedure to upgrade to it! The technical support at our distributor was "guessing" about the procedure.

SuperJenks - The customer was previously running CCC 5.0.21. The documentation states that the uplift is used to move the database from previous versions to version 5.X. The documention does not mention uplifting the database when going to SQL 2000 so I don't think it will help with the move to SQL 2005.

Keep the ideas coming!

Oops, actually it isnt the version out now. Its the next version 5.0.50

I would suggest all you would need to do though is back up the db using db server supervisor.

Uninstall the whole shebang, install 2005, install CCC, restore db.

If you upgrade the Server to 2005 - it should just do everything for you. Same as if you go from MSDE to SQL2000. It should convert the DB etc.

As Platinum says - only from 5.0.50 it is supported - 53 is the very latest build at the moment.

If al is working now OK but only the 80% full message is the problem now then it is only because the original database was installed as 2Gig.
I don't have a testCCCServer at hand but from my CCM4 and CCC4 memory you should be able to increment the SDXArchiver database with the enterprisemanager.
From memory there where to options: auto-grow or increment by xx percent.

maybe a stupid question but did you install it with something else and on a diffenrent partition ?

Thanks for the update on CCC revisons and SQL 2005.

Regarding back up and restore. I haven't found any tool in SQL 2005 that provides a back up or restore!

Thats what I was hoping for :) It didn't seem to work that way. This morning I dialed into the server and it said it was 95% full and pruning the data. That should not be happening with the full version of SQL. I wonder if I can use the old Database Supervisor to increase the size. I'll give that a try this morning.

I haven't found any tool in SQL 2005 that allows me to change the database size and I installed every tool available. I haven't found an Enterprise Manager in any of the program options. I'll try using the old Database Supervisor which is still loaded.

Going back to basics is always a good question when something goes unexpectedly. I checked and the computer is a dedicated CCC machine with only one partition. Both CCC and SQL 2005 are installed under program files on the same partition.
