PcAnywhere is working fine until the modem is bad.
Replacing a new modem (USR 56K extenal serial modem), and get the error in initializing the modem error whenever you start the PC Anywhere (mannually or reboot).

Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling the modem, disable and enable the modem, rebuild the PC Anywhere host profile. Nothing work.

All modem setting is according to NTP (COM 1, dip switch setting, etc)

Any idea how to get the PC Anywhere working?

Is the modem for dial-in or for dial-out?

To check if modem is connected and responding properly you can use a standard windows 'Hyper Terminal' session and connect to COM 1.

Type: AT <Enter> to check if the modem is responding.
If connection is fine try to reset the modem to factory settings via:
AT&F0 <Enter>
