Has anyone used Testout or CBTNuggents? Did you like?

mrmoneymatters,

I, personally, have used CBTs a few times now.

I'm using TestOut now to help me prepare for 70-294, which I'm scheduled to take next week. This is the first time I've used this particular CBT.

After I failed the 70-299 exam, I used CBT Nuggets, which helped me with my problem areas. I was able to pass it on the second try.

Between the two, I find that TestOut has better material (IMHO), presenting information in a lecture-style video in addition to the animated pointing-and-clicking videos.

TestOut also has some practice scenarios that I don't recall seeing with CBT Nuggets, but I could be wrong.

I've tried CBTNuggets, Specialized Solutions and LearnKey. I Found that LearnKey was the best by far - the trainers explained the complex concepts very well.

No CBTs are a replacement for book style studying, but I found that the LearnKey CBT helped clear up most of the confusion I had from what I had read.

Likewise for CBT Nuggets and TestOut (IMHO). If I somehow implied that any CBTs are a suitable replacement for textbooks, they are not. The textbooks contain the bulk of the material that one needs to know, the videos (again, IMHO) reinforce some of the concepts, and the steps involved in configuration (of GPO links, as an example).

What are the CBT and other products mentioned above?

Are they "training" videos to help understand concepts?

Always looking for another way to learn...

Yes, they are like training videos, although they are usually in CD or DVD format. They go through the course material and explain and demonstrate the concepts. I recommend them.

When I am learning/studying, I try to use as many sources as possible - study guides (multiple), CBTs, google searches, technet, practice tests, online forums and if I get the opportunity, training courses.

I'm keen to give TestOut a try after Wishdiak's comments.

HutchHutchison,

CBT=Computer Based Training.

In the case of the CBT Nuggets (brand of) videos that I used, it was simply whiteboard and screenshots, if I remember correctly.

In the case of the TestOut (brand of) videos that I'm using now, there are interactive exercises and sample questions that immediately follow the videos to reinforce the topic(s) covered.

I have no idea how they compare on price. These came into my posession while I was attending school for MCSE, and I didn't get around to using them until after the class had ended.

I like CBT Nuggets. They explain things well and try and simplify the information. I dont know if they cover everything a book would (doubt it) but they are great for seeing things done hands on and show how to to things step by step.
