Hi folks - I'm fairly new InDesign user... I'm currently working on some pretty intensive 4-color publications that will be offset-printed, and I'm wondering if anyone can offer some tips as to what to look out for from file, to film, and to press...? Such as, are there things the program will do that the RIPs do not like? Any types of font issues (I'm using it on a PC at the moment...)

Any insight is greatly appreciated...

And I have to say, InDesign makes Quark look Like PageMaker!

The only PITA that I've come up with is that ID, at least in the 3X version, doesn't export grayscale pdf, which a lot of newspapers want. If you have Acrobat you can "print" a grayscale PDf or export a grayscale postscript file and distill it.

Other than that, there should be no problems - especially if you're familiar Illustrator.
