Category Generation

Hi!

I have a model whose source are a few iqd's. I'm having problems with one of the dimensions. It should return 2 categories: cat 1 (debit) and cat 2 (credit). Instead it only returns one.

I have tried removing the category and re-creating it, and it works then, but if I save the model and recreate the cube, it only shows one category again.

Any ideas?

You need to clean up all your categories, then save your model. Now always create your cube from that model, but don't resave your model. When you save your model with categories already generated, those categories will always remain in your model. This will keep your model file size small, and always ensure that when you build your cube you get the most recent categories.

Thanks for replying DoubleD.

I'm already doing that, and the thing is that when it re-creates the categories, it only show cat1(debit) and leaves out the other category...

Any other ideas?

Are you using more than one datasource, if so make sure you are not losing records because of differing levels of granularity.
Next I would look at your datasource to verify that it contains both categories of data, just because Cat2 is a valid category doesn't mean there are records for that data.
Ensure that your powercube is not set to hide any of the levels.
Lastly, try saving your model with no categories, close down transformer, open the model and just click Generate Categories, verify that the categories exist in your dimension map.

If none of these work I'm not sure what else could be happening.
