We lost our out-of-warranty Cisco Catalyst 2950. CDW has this 2950G ( but we're wondering if this switch can be configd for data AND voice and we need it to provide power to our Cisco phones...

Does anyone know for sure? Still waiting for CDW to call me back so I can ask...

The 2950 was never a PoE switch..... It's replacement is the 2960, however this is also a non-PoE switch. If you require PoE then the current switches to replace the 2950 are the 3560 or the 3750, both of these support both Layer-2 and Layer-3 operation. There are some lower-end switches called the Catalyst Express 500 series that are layer-2 only but these have no CLI and can only be managed via a Browser. Some of these have PoE.

I suggest you take a look on CCO:

Andy you're right on the money for that's exactly what the CDW rep tells me for the 2950 and again you're right about the 3560 for we're waiting now for a quote for that one aswell...

Thanks for your help.
