I changed the catalogue path to point to another drive and then realized they cannot point to a remote drive. The problem is since changing the path back I am getting this error in the event log every minute. Any help would be appreciated.

Try stopping the job engine and deleting all the non-.u01 files in the Catalogs folder that you now have BE set to point to. Then restart the Agent browser (which should have stopped w/ the job engine).

Thanks for the reply jamkey, But unfortunately it didn't work. I even deleted the files again and rebooted the server just in case. I get this error every minute in the event viewer!! I am tempted to throw the server out of the window now.

I'd suggest calling tech support (or e-mailing them if you don't have a service contract) but 7.3 is no longer supported as it is over 3 years old and there are 3 newer versions available. My guess is your DAO or JET components of the machine got damaged somehow in the transition. It might be time for an upgrade anyways... to test if that would help, save the current Backup Exec directory to another location, then install a downloaded copy of 8.6 (free 60 day evaluation period comes with it) and run that install to upgrade the 7.3 install. Make sure to write your current serial #'s in Help > About first as the eval mode will drop the old serial #'s. There should also be a file named besnnum.txt in the \winnt directory that you can save somewhere else (this has your BE serial #'s in it). If 8.6 doesn't help (which would probably mean there is corruption in the .u01 files or a dependent OS component is "busted") then you could uninstall 8.6, re-install 7.3 clean, stop the 7.3 services, and copy in the \data folder from the saved BE install folder, the catalogs, and the pvl.mdb or just the whole darn Backup Exec directory (I'm pretty sure there's a technote on this procedure for copy over the necessary files that store all your settings and job setups, etc... try searching on pvl.mdb and catalogs) Your registry settings won't be preserved though, which have to do with a lot of the stuff you might have changed in Tools > Options of BE. To save that stuff you'd want to copy out the Software > Veritas portion of the registry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Thanks very much jamkey

I'll try and get an upgrade sorted and see if thst works.
