Hi all,

On our SQL Cluster we have about 5 drives. One of these drives holds some files I'm not sure that belong there.
This is the folder: MSSQL.1\MSSQL\FTData\ftcat_documentindex and the files are
CatalogStatus.dat
CatalogStatus.idx
and a folder called MssearchCatalogDir with some files in it.

I would like to move these files to their original location (c:\program files\microsoft sql\...). How can I do this?
(we would like to disconnect that lun from our cluster)

Thanks!

Those files are your full text index. Moving them can be a pain. It's easier to drop the full text index and recreate it at the new location.

Removing the drive that full text data resides on can cause problems later on. There are a bunch of registry pointers to this drive (at least there were in SQL 2000).

I had a machine which when trying to install SP4 I had to dig through the registry looking for all the drive references for a drive which didn't exist any more.

As they are full text data file you'll need to leave them on a shared volume.
