Catalog connectivity

I am wondering if it is possible to take a catalog and point it or connect it to a another database. This other database is exactly the same as the first one that the catalog is connected to. THe only reason I need to do this is because the second database has only 10% of the data so it is easier or faster for my queries to run. Please let me know. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
