I want to get certified for Cat 5e and 6. What the best, and easies t way? What or who has the best certifications?

Thanks in advance

Jet042 is right, Bicsi is great, they teach you alot more than just cat5 and 6, plus their certification is recognized alot more these days than it used to be.

I agree that Bisci is the best but you will have to be able to afford the classes and be able to travel for the nearest one to where ever you are located.

Even if that is not a problem, you may want to contact Leviton,or one of the other major mfgs to get certified on their products in the meantime in order to get some working knowledged before you go to Bisci. (even tho Leviton has an on line class, the best way to go is to a 'hands on' session)
Every little bit helps.

Good Luck

Has been in the cabling business for about twenty years and is now the Sr PM for a cabling company located in the Los Angeles area.
Also a General Class Amatuer Radio Operator.

I want to do certifed cat 5e and cat 6 installs. Where can I get a certification for this? Thanks

BICSI will also hold a class at your business if you have enough employees to get certified. Cheaper than sending 5 or 6 to a class anyway.

They came to Puerto Rico when I was stationed there in the Navy and 8 of us were certified. Awesome class!

Reelbigfish,
You are opening the door to the matrix...you may not want to stop just at cable installs!

Johnthephoneguy =- what was the name of the class you took?

Thanks everyone - didn't mean to open the "Matrix Door". so sorry.

i agree Bicsi is the one to go for, but when i was cabling i also did Krone (ADCKrone) Hellerman Tyton and Molex courses direct with the companies. The krone course was short (3 days) but good.It was both classroom and practical and i still sometimes refer to the coourse work now.

But Bicsi is the one.

If you're looking to just get certified, any of the major mfgr's can offer you a course, and their sales guys will always travel if your company is big enough. Keep in mind, the class will be half sales pitch, but if you need to offer a "Manufacturer Warranty" on a job, it's the cheapest way to go.

I like Hubbell product, but opinions differ.

If you are going to switch careers and become a cabling technician then BICSI is the way to go or if you just want a certicication call Leviton and find out who is the local rep. Call the rep and tell them you are interested in the Leviton/Essex solution for your company and that you would like to be manufatured certified. It won't cost you anything more then likley.
