Cast function

I need to cast a blob into a varchar2.

I am thinking of using the cast function but do not know the syntax. I think it is something like this:

cast(binary_data as varchar2(50))

Cassidy,

I am not aware that you can re-cast a BLOB as anything else.

Well that stinks. I thought I had sprung on something with implicit casting.

Functions are that bad.
