Hi,
I need to show two column in the second level prompt.
i.e First level prompt will shows one column, based on that column i am showing second level of prompts.

Fist Level Prompt:
Column 1(Dept No)

Second Level Prompt: Baseed on First level column it will filter.
Coulmn 2 (Emp No)

But i need show two columns in the the second level prompt

i.e Column2 (Emp No)
Column2 (Emp Name)

How is it possible using cascading prompt??

Please help out....

Thanks,
Regards,
Sri.

This isn't possible in Impromptu.

Prompts only use 1 column to display, but can use a different column for the return value. i.e. display Employee Name in prompt but return Employee Number to filter.

This is done in the prompt manager, select Employee No as Use, Select Employee Name as Display.

The first level prompt variable EmpNo, Is it possible to use in the second level report EmpNo as the filter condtion.

i.e passing the parameter one level report to second level report

Please help out me...

Thanks,
Sri.

Sri,

You could do this alternatively by creating a concatenation of employee id and name and showing that. You would also have to create the same concatenation in your final report in order to have this work.

Gary's suggestion is better, unless you have a problem like the one in thread401-770043, where the final report needed the results of both of the prior cascading prompts.

Base the filter of your sub-report (Second level as you put it) on EmpNo field of your main report.

Highlight Sub-report, On the filter tab enter EmpNo = Main Query EmpNo.

EmpNo has to be a field in your main report.
