CAS on Windows Web Server 2008?

Hey, do you have to buy Windows 2008 Standard to host a CAS-only Exchange role, or can you use the Windows 2008 Web Server version of Server 2008? It's half the price, and it makes sense that you could use it, since CAS is completely web-based, but I wanted to check and see if anyone knows of any blocking factors that might cause a problem there.

CAS isn't completely web based. You need Server Standard/Enterprise 2008.

Is that statement due to a lack of information stating otherwise, or a known technical block, or an existing affirmative statement?

I know that Web Server isn't mentioned in this official requirements doc:

It's completely not supported on Web Edition or Core. The prereq checks will soon block installation on web & core as well.
