Cartridge notification not working

When I first installed my 960c printer, the estimated ink level system in the Toolbox software worked fine, but now does not - it says it is unable to establish two-way communication with the printer.

I have played around a bit and assume that it is a fault with the hardware but has anyone else had this problem?

Can you still print from your PC? If not, then check the cable.

Yes, I can still print fine, just not know when to expect cartidges to run out.
