Hi All,

can some one tell me in simple terms what is a cartesian product?

Many Thanks

Its when you have two or more tables and you do not join them. You then get a relationship for every permutation of the records.

ie if you have two tables with 100 records in each, the cartesian product would yield a dataset of

100 x 100 = 10,000

Generally not considered to be very useful ;-)

does this only happen when the no join? e.g. you have 2 tables and they are no joined...?

the other part i dont understand if the 2 tables have a combined total of 200 records....what are the other 800 showing?

Many Thanks

Ps. sorry if these are silly questions...
