Is this possible? I'm using LPRINT for a robot arm, and theres a noticeable 20 sec delay between each LPRINT command. Would there be such a delay if I switched to RS232C instead of Centronics?
Thanks for the help,
Le

What program are you running to lprint and what operating system? And is there a network connection to the computer?

In those I've dealt with the actual difference in output was unmeasurable at the individual character level.

i'm using Qbasic on windows Xp. There is a network connection on the computer, but since the robot is for moving from place to place, it wouldn't always have a network connection.

You are operating at a more advanced level than I am familiar with but on the earlier stuff I was involved with the presence of the network inserted a delay in anything going to the printer. Having never traced down what was really happening, I suspect that there was a delay induced to see if anything else was coming for the print job and checking for other possible jobs in the print queue.

Without the network stuff the parallel port was accessable immediately. XP, unfortunately is going to take that ability away from you.
