when converting word perfect document to word document, the descriptive name does not carry over if it is "Des. 12".
the only thing that carries over is the des. Any suggestions on how to fix this when converting the word perfect documents to word so that the whole descriptive name carries over.

thanks

Not sure I understand. When you say descriptive name, are you talking about the filename?

If so, rename the file.

Word usually makes a saved Word document have the extension .doc. If you filename was Des.12m then the Word file will be Des.doc.

The other thing you could do is write a simple macro that gets the full filename (Des.12) , removes the ".", and saves the converted Word file as Des12.doc.

No. In WordPerfect there is a Document Summary that has a descriptive name in it. When converted to word it goes to the document properties(title). however i want the whole thing to come over, everything after the period is cutting off. so DES only comes over to the word side not des. 12.
thanks for trying though
