I have an old report that is showing squares as opposed to performing the Carriage Return line feed. If I create a new report it is fine. Any clues? tia,

This is because the old report is interpreting the carriage return by itself as a printable character (in this case, it comes up looking like a square). To avoid this, use a carriage return followed by a linefeed character (chr(13) & chr(10), or in VBA, vbCrLf).

I think it was user error and tweaking with the system tables. I re-entered everything into the memo field from scratch and all is well... thanks for the tip with chr(13) & chr(10); it may come in handy later.

The extra chr(10) on top of the chr(13) is just what I needed...

have a star...

didn't even have to post a question... :)

In case it's any use - you can also insert returns in a text box by typing Ctrl M.
