Folks,
I have 15 years as a technician and PM in structured cabling and have also done some wireless installations, including getting trained to climb towers. I am currently working as a technician.
I find myself slowly being the odd man out. I hold manufacturers certificates but no certificate of real value beyond the mfg. I am beginning to get older and need to continue moving forward in my career but find that my lack of credentials is holding me back. I would love to stay in Structured Cabling/Data Centers as I also enjoy construction but would prefer the management or design side.
I need a little guidance: am I better going after a Cisco Certifications and better understanding of routing and VoIP or an RCDD? Or would a PMP Cert. be best. I work in the NYC/NJ/Philly region.
