Card swipe customer lookup software?

Hey everyone.. I may be in the wrong subforum for this.. please redirect me if no one can help here.

We are going to start using a membership card with our business and just want a simple program/software that we can use a card swipe connected to a windows pc and it bring up there information that we have saved (maybe just a text file with the expiration date and there name) Is there maybe some easy way to do this without buying some expensive software that will have way more then we need anyway?
