Card slot questions

Question #1 - Is there any problem leaving an empty slot between cards on an 11C? I'm getting four more digital cards and an analog card. The DLC's will be here before the analog and I want the new analog next to the original one so I want to leave a slot empty.

Question #2 - Does a Call Pilot have to go in the first cabinet on an 11C? I have a DLC in slot 10 right now and don't want to move it if I don't have to but I have room in the second cabinet for CP.

not that sure about question two, you can leave vacant slots in the cab.. but i've always installed cp in slot 10. and i've never seen one any other place.. good thing about an 11 you can usually switch the cable (switch tail) and not have to move the jumpers..

Thanks John, but it'd be easier to move the card to another cab and swing the jumpers instead of unbundling cables and moving them between cabs. I'm lazy.

I'm not sure I'm getting CP anyway - I have a Centigram with a bad case fan. They won't replace the fan - you have to buy the entire machine at $2000+ - so my Central Office people may replace it with a CP instead of replacing an obsolete machine with another obsolete machine. Sure, I can replace the fan myself, but the box has other issues. I'd rather have a new CP. Of course, that's $45K+ versus $10 for a fan, but I can dream can't I?

Slot 10 is not particulary designed to seat a DGTLC card. The DS30x backplane bus is not fully cabled starting slot 10. It's better to keep 10 for Analog, COT, XFEM, not DECT, DGT, Call Pilot. Random DGT set restart may happened, already experienced.
Perfer slot 9 for CP.

Slot 10 is labelled "MM" on the 11C for MerMail with slots 11 and 12 ("MM2" and "MM3") without a card connector. I've had a DLC in slot 10 for 4 years without a single glitch - it was installed by SBC when the PBX was installed.
