Capturing parts of Corel Drawings

Is it possible to capture (copy) a segment of a drawing and keep that part in Draw for further manipulation?

I have been working on creating quilt patterns for my wife and cannot find a way to do this yet. See for an example of part of a 24" Double Wedding Ring pattern that Draw (version 7.467) created. I have ordered release 11 if that is helpful.

I need to be able to capture the irregular figures A, B and C as Draw figures so I can use Contour to add a 1/4" seam allowance to all sides of the figure.

I know how to read the image into PhotoPaint and crop the image and using the eraser to get rid of the unwanted lines, but I cannot figure out a way to get the resulting image back into Draw as an image that can be manipulated.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi jduer,

It's seems that the copy you have been able to use in Photo Paint was a bitmap file, which would explain why you were not able to manipulate it in Corel Draw. Even after moving it from Photo Paint to Draw, it was still a bitmap file. If the file/s you were trying to use were in a vector format (line drawings) you could import them into draw and they could be manipulated. Most of the time, when an image is copied from the web it is in a bitmap format. A bitmap is like permanantly adhering some objects together with super glue and a vector file is like taking some objects and placing them in a box.

If you have to have this pattern, your probably going to have to recreate it in Draw.

When I wrote this request, I have very little hope that there was a way to do this but I thought that it was worth a try.

I do thank you for confirming that there is no way to do this.
