i have a panasonic nv-gs180. i've installed a firewire card but it dosen't seem to find it when i pres f5. is there something i'm doing wrong? thanks

Not enough to go on in your first message.

Does connecting and turning on the camera trigger a reaction from Windows? If not, then you have a connection problem that might be cabling or perhaps a camera problem.

Have you any other external FireWire devices connected? If so, try swapping them around between [ports and disabling others when testing the camera.

Have you tried another cable/camera or the same camera with another computer?

thanks for your reply! window doesn't have any kind of reaction to my dv camera but my friends camera works fine on it! i can't figure it out! it must be some kind of problem with the camera! is there anything else you could surggest?

If you have a friend with a FireWire computer, then you could try connecting to that. And also try a different FireWire cable.

If both still draw a blank, I would blame the camera unless (I don't know your camera) there is a setting somewhere in the camera required to activate the DV out (but I doubt it).

yeah i just tried connecting it... blank. it must be the camera. there dosen't seem to be any thing on the menu to change to the firewire. it works with a usb cable but the footage looks rubbish when you see movement. i think i'll just capture my footage from my friends camera for now... thanks for you help!
