Thank you for contacting SONY.
Although Microsoft's Windows XP operating system provides native support for most digital video devices, unfortunately, the updated i.LINK communication standard implemented in Windows XP is not compatible with the older SONY DCR-VX700 or DCR-VX1000 Digital Camcorders (designed and released in October 1995). Therefore SONY can not support the digital video import or export of the DCR-VX700 or DCR-VX1000 camcorders on Windows XP.
However, the DCRVX1000 does offer standard analog audio and video out. We recommend you consider SONY's DVMC-DA2 digital media converter. The DVMC-DA2 converts analog composite or S-video signals into digital
(i.LINK) signals, and vice versa. This will enable you to convert the analog video output to a digital video signal for input into your computer.
When used in conjunction with either the DCR-VX1000 or an analog based video input device*, you can also export edited video files for external storage. For additional information on this product and links to other SONY DV products, please visit the following Web site:
The above web address has no spaces or returns.
* NOTE: SONY's DCR-VX700 model does NOT support analog audio or video input. You will need to connect the DVMC-DA2 to an analog video recording device (such as a VCR) to record the video files. Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance.
