Another quicky - is there a way to capture what the user is doing i.e adding new columns or rows and preventing this!

Can you not just use the Tools Protection Protect Worksheet menu option Simon ?
Highlight all cells or just the ones you want the user to be able to edit and under the Format Cell menu, choose the protection tab and unlock the selected cells. Next protect the sheet. This will allow user editing in all unlocked cells but prevent users from adding and or deleting rows and columns.
