Just wondering if anyone had a working capture statement for printing to an LPT2 port.

Windows 2000pro workstation
Client 32

I know to create the print "Q" in NDS and have a capture to the Q. But I have not been having luck with capturing to the NDPS Printer object. Alternative, it their a NET USE command to map the LPT2 to an IP address such as a HP Jet Direct card in the printer?

??? Hmmmm

Hi,

Have you tried the following command:

CAPTURE L=2 TI=12 P=.printeragentname.OU.O

Good Luck

I may not have gotten the command line correct. I did try a similar flavor of your statement, but when the login scrip ran, their was no printing. You could see the capture.exe dos box come up upon log-In, but would not print.

I will try again...

Thank You

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

The solution I have found is to create an IP port for the printer on the Win2000/xp machine. Give the new port the IP address of the printer.
THEN

Go back to the printer in your control panel and Share the printer. Give it a name. Then USE the NET USE command and path to point back to the share you created. You can do this on every machine which needs the LPT designation, and even create a separate share on each of the machines so that you are not bound to having one machine stay on all the time to keep the share available. Basically your just pointing back to yourself using the NET USE.

Worked for me.

Let me know if you have any comments on this configuration. IT worked!
