i have done this is older ver, but i am trying to have the dot cap files use the time and date for a file name. i thought $T$D would work there but as usually my ram is a little full... anyone use a string there? (why do they call them help files? they should be click here and get lost files)

John, I have a couple examples on the samples page of my site that show how to create filenames based on the date. They all basically use ltimeints to break the current day into year, month, day, etc. then strfmt to put the components back in the order you want. The trick is to use %02d as the format specifier for day and month so that you get a leading zero for day/month 1 through 9.

thanks, i thought i had "borrowed" everything from you site that i needed, guess i'll make another trip to the well.
