My client needs to capture the design of a DB2 database in Oracle Designer. Does anyone know of a tool that could take DB2 table structure information from the DB2 database and export it in a manner that can then be imported as a data model into Oracle Designer?

Richard,

the db2look utility will be able to extract the DDL for you. Can Oracle designer make use of that.

Cheers
Greg

gregsimpson,

db2look is a standard utility see this link for details
A data modeling tool like CA's AllFusion Erwin may be another alternative. You can get Ewrin to:
1) connect to the DB2 database via an ODBC driver
2) reveres engineer the DB into a Erwin model
3) forward engineer the model to Oracle

Thanks Greg, I will look at the IBM web site you provided.

Richard,

as tbt103 says, db2look is a standard utility and it is he who posted you a link, not I. I'm not sure why he addressed the reply to your question to me. I think that's the source of the confusion. Are you sorted now?

Cheers
Greg

OK, I'm clear now - got my people confused... Thanks to both Greeg and tbt103.
