I have a user who's computer shuts down every time he presses the Caps Lock key. He switched keyboards and the problem disappeared for a week. It is a dell latitude d600 with dell docking station running Windows XP SP1.
Anyone seen this problem before?

Thanks

Sounds like someone maybe is playing a trick on that person? Never heard of it. Is it possible it is set to a hot key? Or the battery dies around the same time he presses it.

is the keyboard attached to the dock a usb or ps2 connection? sounds as if something is defective on the dock connector if ps2, if usb - whole different deal.

you can also undock, log in as admin, and remove the docked hardware profile and recreate to see if it makes any difference. device manager shows no problems?

do you have the correct driver installed for the usb floppy drive? if keyboard is usb and the usb floppy isnt installed properly, might be causing enumeration problems.

i would probably ask dell to replace the dock.
