Hi all,

I've had a search through this forum and found a similar post, but that was relating to Wyse clients, whereas the issue I have is experienced even when making a connection from a PC.

User reported a problem with caps lock being reversed during the citrix session. When the light was on, they were writing lower case, and when it was off in Capitals. After I'd chuckled to myself lots about how this had to be a desktop issue (i do server support!) i made a connection to three of the servers within the Farm to try this out for myself. Sure enough, on one of the three servers, I get the exact same issue. Strange, i think, so I log out of my three sessions, and log back in again. Works fine, try again, and this time its a different server with the problem. Try again, and the third server then has the issue. I call a colleague over to show him, and this is where it gets REALLY strange.

I'd clicked Start and Run in order to be able to type some text, and the caps lock was reversed. However, when I typed in notepad and opened it, everything reverted back to normal, caps lock was working properly again!!

I've now been assigned a support call, and would, ideally, like to be able to offer some sort of solution other than simply log off and log back in again!! Users never like that as a solution!

First question, has anyone out there ever seen anything like this before? I'd never even heard of this until I had a search earlier on. Secondly, any ideas where on earth I can look to try and find where the problem may be.

Will certainly post up if I do find a definite fix, but any ideas or suggestions much appreciated, as I am pretty much stumped on this one!!

thanks for any help,

Chris

we also have experienced the similar issues, from an end user point of view its an absolute joke, how can the stupid server get it wrong?

One thing for us that seems to work is getting the user to press LEft Shift 5 times, (which brings up the accessibility wizard if its installed, for the user to enable sticky keys) this resynchronises the keboard, and the user only needs to close the sticky keys window..

othet than that though?? good luck :)

I had something similar with num lock once, I think this vb script fixed it

Code:
set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.SendKeys "{NUMLOCK}"

you probably want to change the code, I don't even get on the scale as a vb amateur.

[blue]Arguably the best cat skinner around ! [/blue]

Cheers

Sorry to remind you of this nightmare if you haven't thought about it since April, but I was wondering if you ever found a resolution to it.

I am now having this problem too with one of our users here - only with the Numlock key. The boss refuses to believe it has anything to do with the server even though we have replaced the thinstar 300 box with a known good one and replaced the keyboard with a known good one.

Maybe the user is creating a bizzarre combination of events? Did you happen to notice what the 'trigger' was when you were able to replicate the problem? I have not yet been able to replicate the problem and so far only one user is reporting it.

Thanks for any help!
