When I run dcomcnfg, it comes up with a list of applications. (This may be tied to another problem I am having with DCOMCNFG... thread195-1345392.)

Whether it is a VB6 DCOM application or something else, if I select it and click Properties, it comes back with "The Operation completed successfully".

The application's properties screen doesn't appear. My login on my PC supposedly has Administrator privileges. I tried to find this problem at Microsoft's MSDN site, no luck there.

Any ideas? Did I lose permissions somehow?

Tomato Soup,

I'm running into the exact same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

Thanks.

no. My PC had to be rebuilt. When I got it back, I was not able to view properties on an application in dcomcnfg. I tend to believe that it was how it was rebuilt. My coworker has the same problem.

I had the same problem. For me, the solution was to modify the registry.

Most of the applications from the dcomcnfg list just return "The Operation completed successfully" when clicking "properties". So I looked in the registry : for the applications that worked fine, there is a key called "RunAs" and for the others, that key is not present.

I tried to locate my application in the registry under :
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\
(it was HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{6316D324-2238-101B-9E66-00AA003BA905})
and there, i just added a String key called "RunAs" with value "Interactive User".

Hope this help.

Matthieu
