My DVD player will happily read DVDs and CDs. However I can't see what is on a disc. If i go through my computer nothing happens. If i go through explore it shows a plus next to the disc but clicking on it nothing happens.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved?

Many thanks in advance

'My DVD player will happily read DVDs and CDs'

Do you mean it will play music/video, autorun install files, but not let you access via explorer?

Wolluf,

Thanks for your reply

You are exactly right. Games will autorun fine. A disk of music can be played by selecting 'play using windows media player' from autorun and it will even display the files in the 'now playing' area. I just can't explore the disk and hence can't move files to my computer.

Any advice gratefully recieved

can you access them from a command prompt (eg, change to DVD drive by typing X: where X: is DVD drive letter, then type dir. If you get a list you could use copy or xcopy to copy to hard drive. Not ideal - but if you can access from here, probably means some registry setting is off in windows).

Also, have you tried removing the DVD drive from device manager, rebooting and letting windows reinstall it? Or changing its drive letter in disk management (run diskmgmt.msc).

Wolluf,

Apologies I have been on holiday the last couple of weeks. Changing the drive letter solved the issue. Many thanks for your assistance

Cheers
John
