Can't use Word

Act! tells me it can't write to either its own editor or Word XP.
I've followed the list of suggestions.
I've reinstalled.
I've installed ver 5, no go.
I've installed ver 6, no go.
It is apparent that Act! is a very shaky program but I've bouht it so what do I do now?
