Greetings all,

When using the transferSpreadsheet, transferDatabase, or transfertext I get an error "Can't Update: Database or object is read only" even though there is no existing external object to replace

Any ideas...

Thanks
I guess you're on a network?
It COULD be one of several things.
The database is on a differnt domain.
the database is corrupted slightly.
Your permissions are not Full Control on that Share or the .MDB itself.

Try to copy it to your c:\drive and if it works its a permissions thing if not then there is corruption.
Doug,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm seeing this with more than one mdb, on more than one workstation, and occurring when trying to create the exported file.

Initially I thought this was a network rights issue, but the network directory has "full control" rights assigned, I have tried creating the result files on C;\ , that fails also.

Maybe there's some sort of update going on in the mdb when you do an export, ie to the table itself.

The file server has the latest NT service packs applied
I've also checked for viruses etc....

Tks VM
