Hello

I've posted previously but still can't find out what the problem is so I'm posting again.

I have Windows XP, Office XP Developer and using Crystal 9. I also have Crystal 8.5 loaded on my computer. Windows XP has Service Pack 2, Office XP has Service Pack 2 and Crystal 9 has the most recent patch.

When I try to create a new report or update the datasource of an existing report, I get the error message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". The program closes and an error report is sent to Microsoft (which they obviously aren't doing anything about because they've been sent a million)!

The program allows me to view the datasource screen but when I select the + beside the database to select another table to add to the report (or in the case of a new report, select the datasource tables) this occurs. Note that the database in question is MS-Access.

I found an article on Business Objects web page indicating to copy commoncontrols.dll to CR9 folder which I did (Knowledgebase article C2012920) but it didn't work. Note that I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office XP and Crystal to no avail.

I am getting so frustrated - can someone please help! Thanks.

Shelby

Hi

Sorry but I should have also indicated that the problem also exists with Crystal 8.5 and accessing an Access database. These problems do not exist with Windows 2000 and Office 2000 (as per my laptop environment).

A complete uninstall, and then reinstalling should fix it , we had the same happen here, it was a failure of crystal to update a few registery settings. But by uninstalling then doing a complete re install , it all started to work ok.

HI Mikalm

Thanks for replying however, in another post I indicated that I uninstalled and reinstalled and now Crystal won't load at all!!

Also, I finally got a reply from Business Objects on this issue and was advised that I'm having this problem because Crystal Reports is not supported with the Windows SP2 patch. This doesn't explain, however, why it isn't working on my Windows 2000 computer. They've provided me with information on how to manually uninstall so I'll do that, reinstall and let you know!
