Hi there,

I'm a newbie user on IP Phones. I got some used Avaya 9641GS phones to use them with a PBX gateway (non Avaya). I managed to update 2 of the phones to SIP 7.1 firmware but 1 of them just drops the update process.

The log in the HTTP Server shows that the phone successfuly downloads the 96x1Supgrade.txt, 46xxsettings.txt and the S96x1_SALBR7_1_14_0r4_V4r83.tar files, but it doesn't shows the update progress bar. Instead it goes directly to the login screen. (The login doesn't work either, it gets stuck with this message "Acquiring Service" forever")

Can I get some help please?

Thanks!!

Honestly this is outside the scope of Avaya IP Office. Yes the 96XX phones can run SIP but not with IPO(except J100). In fact the IPO won't even serve H323 firmware to a 96XX phone in SIP you have to have something else serve it.

It kind of sounds like a bad phone to me but hard to say.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Another problem i've run into is that I can't add new contacts to the other working phones. The contacts menu is blank with no buttons.

I've updated the 46xxsettings.txt file with this settings

SET APPSTAT 1
SET ENABLE_CONTACTS 1
SET ENABLE_MODIFY_CONTACTS 1

But i've had no luck. Other settings were applied with no problems.

The SIP software for the 9641GS is not designed to work with anything other than Avaya Aura. If you want a model that will work with non-Avaya platforms, you need a J100 model.
